Stewardship and Generosity

About Pledging

PrintE-mail

Pledging is an integral part of being a member of UUCB and is the largest source of funding for our annual operating budget. Your pledge supports the our ministerial staff, administrative and custodial staff, pays the utility bills and makes sure we can continue to keep our buildings and grounds maintained.

We are glad you are here at UUCB! We invite you to be generous as you consider your financial support of the church. We hope the following information is helpful.

What is a pledge?

A pledge is a covenant that members and friends make to support the church. It is a promise to pay a certain amount over the course of a fiscal year (July 1-June 30).

Please note that members must make “a contribution of record for the financial support of the Church,” as stated in the Church Bylaws.

Where does my pledge go?

Money from pledges goes to the general operating fund of the church. Salaries, utilities, office needs, religious education materials, general building and grounds upkeep, and community outreach are all paid out of the general fund.

Haven't made a pledge for 2011-2012 yet?

You can download the 2011-2012 pledge form here, then fill it out and email it to Anne Greenwood, UUCB's Treasurer.

If you've just become a member of UUCB, you can download the "2010-11 Giving Guide" and fill out your 2010-2011 pledge form online to start giving during the current fiscal year.

There are lots of options for giving to UUCB - here are just a few:

If you're making a one-time pledge payment, please make sure you have turned in a pledge card or have completed the form online (see above). This allows us to estimate our budget for the year and properly credit your payment.

If you are making a contribution for a specific purpose, you will be asked to indicate this by making a "Special Instruction to the Merchant" when you do the final review of your transaction. Please click on that (red) link, and input what the contribution is for. If you do not designate, we will consider it an undesignated contribution to the General Fund.

You can make a one time payment to be added to the First Sunday special offering plate.

At the moment we are unable to accept recurring payments through PayPal. Please inquire at your banking institution about setting up automatic monthly drafts for your regular pledge payment.

Thank you!

Questions/comments can be addressed to our Office Administrator.

Thoughts on Giving

Giving is one of life's great satisfactions, especially when you know that your gifts will improve the lives of others.
As members and friends of UUCB, many of us give of our time, talent and treasure in many different ways. Whether it is volunteer work or making an annual pledge, these are the gifts that maintain the daily operation of our church.
