Marketing and PR Task Force Volunteers Needed!
UUCB is calling for a Marketing and PR task force to develop a comprehensive marketing and advertising campaign for publicizing our beautiful building as a wedding and special event venue. The focus of the task force will be to let the greater Bay Area in on our very well kept secret—a location with fabulous views, grand architecture and desirable amenities—and, of course, to increase rental income. We’re looking for a maximum of 6 members and/or friends of UUCB with solid marketing and/or advertising skills who would be willing to commit about six months to this project. Some of the task force goals are: professional-looking, attractive brochures, updating and “beautifying” the rental web page at uucb.org, and critical review of the various current advertising and promotional media employed by the church and what will best serve to bring our venue into the public eye. The first meeting is tentatively scheduled for March 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Room. Contact Lisa Harrington at commadmin@uucb.org if you have the time and specific talent for this task force!

The New Beacon
Our new mission-driven newsletter looks a little different than it’s predecessor. It’s more streamlined and cleaner in its presentation, and it focuses on the news that speaks directly to the mission and vision of UUCB.
If you’re looking for other related content, like ongoing groups or event announcements, please visit these links:
http://calendar.uucb.org or http://uucb.org
You can also find the latest information in our weekly announcements on the UUCB home page (http://uucb.org) or on the printed “Pink Sheet” announcements on the Info Table or on the kiosk next to the Welcome Table in the Atrium.
See the back page if you wish to sign up for the weekly E-announcements or the monthly E-Beacon.
In fellowship,
Alisa Gould Sugden and Lisa Harrington

What to Expect in the 2013 January Beacon
Last month we wrote about coming changes to the monthly Beacon on the Hill newsletter. Some of you have asked what the effects will the “mission-driven” focus have on the familiar publication and what kind of information it will contain come January. Will we still have a paper Beacon? Yes. What will the newsletter look like? We’re working on a new, streamlined design for the paper version and an attractive format for the electronic edition which will contain some full articles and some abbreviated articles with links to full content on our web site.

Crossing the Digital Divide
What is going on at UUCB these days? The order of service is being projected onto a screen during worship services! The Beacon on the Hill newsletter is being delivered by email as are the weekly announcements! More and more information is being delivered, nay pushed, into our awareness by the internet. What on earth is happening?
The short answer is that the internet is the pathway more and more people are using to find information and news, communicate with friends and relatives, and, yes, even find their spiritual homes. In what seems like a stunningly brief period of time, the entire world leapt into the “electronic age.”

What's Going On Around Here?
One of the universal issues for church administrators is how to make sure that the members of the congregation are kept informed of all that is happening in and around the church. When we gather at our annual Professional Days, our conversations often turn to the best methods and types of communication that other churches are using and how well their congregants are adapting to them.
Your administrators—Alisa Gould Sugden, Lisa Harrington, and Mary Ellen Morgan—have had various conversations lately with the ministers about how we can streamline our communications with you. We’ve been asking hard questions about the format of the Beacon newsletter and the Weekly Announcements to determine what we might do to make them better.
