From Our Co-Ministers

January 2008

Happy New Year!

New Year’s Resolutions come out of our human longing to keep growing and becoming. The resolve to start something afresh, to make a change, to attempt or learn something new is good.

It takes courage to try, to learn, to risk, to explore, to say “Yes” to the unknown. But, how else do we stay really alive and engaged with living?

So, what do you want for yourself for the new year? What project will you begin? What cupboard will you finally clean out? Are you drawn to a class, a spiritual practice? Will you commit time to a relationship, to volunteering? Will you make the phone call you.ve put off? What do you want for this next chapter of your life?

The first Sunday in January the church will begin something new. We will offer two Sunday morning services at 9:00 and at 11:00.

January 6th the services are based on a question from a poem by Mary Oliver: What Will You Do With Your One Wild and Precious Life?

The 9:00 a.m. and the 11:00 a.m. Services will each have 10 speakers from each decade of life who will share their responses.

All 21 of these wonderful people will be inspiring to hear. There will be joyful music to welcome the year in both services. Come to one or both services on Sunday, January 6 and throughout the new year!

Your presence strengthens both the individuals in their hopes for their lives and the community as we risk and stretch, and grow.

Let’s hear one another’s stories and encourage one another and our community in our hopes for the new.

All good wishes!
