From Our Co-MinistersApril 2007 Sparkling moments— Throughout the day of the work party, many people coming and going, working on the grounds and the inside of the building—clearing and cleaning, collaborating, chatting and cheering one another; Committee meetings beginning with chalice lightings, covenant readings, the sharing of celebrations, appreciation, and apologies; The first and second grade class in all their beauty and variety giving and receiving gifts; Families sharing with one another what each member of the family likes, dislikes, and what they love about one another; Playful, engaging, enlivening story times in Sunday Services; Songs sung from the heart; music so beautiful that tears run down cheeks; Laughing easily, bodies moving, tension easing, imaginations freed up, opening together with Laughter Yoga; The quality of the Board of Trustees meeting—energy, presence, sparkle, hope; Feelings of promise, possibility, goodness, new life; Resilience; Gratitude for moments of connection with beautiful words, beloved people, splendor; Sweet connections reading to children in the Richmond and San Pablo schools; Members’ faces glowing in candle light at peace vigils; Supercards full of colorful signatures and greetings posted on members’ living room, bedroom and hospital walls; More and more—seeing, speaking the truth, living lives of love; Attentive, prayerful listening to one another; Inviting each other to be most fully who we are and who we can be; Being soul mates, companions on the journey. These sparkling moments, this depth of connection each with our own self, with one another, and with people in the larger community, this inexhaustible and infinite life force, keep us in touch with the source of our being. We touch creativity, goodness, wisdom, and love. This spirit of life lures us forward, makes us ready for the coming day.
